Where is the Rig Museum? The International Petroleum Museum and Exposition is located on the banks of the Atchafalaya River at the intersection of the Intercoastal Waterway in Morgan City, Louisiana. Morgan City is the largest city in St. Mary Parish. The Rig Museum is approximately 68 miles southeast of Lafayette, 80 miles south of Baton Rouge and 90 miles southwest of New Orleans. Morgan City is the center of the Cajun Coast. It is the site for the drilling of the first offshore oilwell and the center of offshore activities for the past 50 years. To the north is the vast Atchafalaya Basin, with its bounty of wildlife, and to the south is the only building river delta in the world. For more information about this area, visit http://mcla.net or The Louisiana State Tourism Office. Directions to the Rig MuseumCouldn't be easier! Coming from New Orleans or Lafayette, get on Hwy 90 in Morgan City and follow the signs! We're located at 111 First Street -- on the North Side of Railroad Avenue, and the river side of the levee. From Baton Rouge, follow Hwy 70 South to Morgan City, then to Hwy 90 West, and follow the signs! Overview Map
